Handley Surveys has been involved in major construction project throughout the Australasian region since 1976. For the past fifteen years, Handley Surveys has focused heavily on major construction expansion projects whilst still maintaining services to smaller contractors at competitive rates.

2015

Gorgon LNG Project

Downer EDI

Downer EDI secured a $170 million contract for work on the Gorgon project on Barrow Island. The 12-month contract for the company is for miscellaneous works and includes an option for extension. Handley Surveys was selected to provide laser scanning and SMP surveying services to the project on Barrow Island and International fabrication yards.

Parker Point Diesel Tanks

Downer Tenix JV

Downer Tenix JV was the contractor for the construction of two 46-metre diameter diesel tanks. Handley Surveys was awarded a sub-contract survey package to provide civil and SMP surveyors to the project to assist with the construction phase. The award draws on Handley Surveys’s experience in the Pilbara region and experience operating with Rio Tinto on major projects.

    Wheatstone LNG Project

    Bechtel

    The Chevron operated Wheatstone LNG project was awarded to Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals. The project is a grass-roots development at a Greenfields site near Onslow in Western Australia. Handley Surveys was awarded the Inside Battery Limit (ISBL) structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) contract to assist with construction of the two LNG trains.

    Wheatstone LNG Project

    Bechtel

    One of the single largest mobile mapping (vehicle mounted Lidar) projects undertaken in Australia covering nearly 50 square kilometres. The data acquired consisted of 852 individual trajectories allowing an entire project as built to be developed at the completion of the project bulk earthworks phase.

West Angelas Power Station

UGL Resources

UGL was a market leader in the end-to-end engineering, asset management construction and maintenance services. UGL were awarded the contract to complete the West Angelas Power Station (WAPS). Handley Surveys was selected for the project based on their experience with Gas Turbine Generation projects and their ongoing relationship and outstanding performance with UGL Resources on previous projects.

PNG LNG

CB&I Clough JV

Exxon Mobil Corporation awarded CB&I Clough Joint Venture a US$1 billion contract for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the PNG LNG Project gas conditioning plant. CB&I Clough JV selected Handley Surveys to execute civil and structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) works on the project.

Gas Power Stations

UGL Resources

APA Group commissioned UGL Resource to build gas turbine compressor stations at Yarraloola and Paraburdoo sites for their existing infrastructure network expansion. Handley Surveys was awarded the work based on their high level of experience with rotating gas turbines and previous structural, mechanical and piping works.

APLNG

Cimeco / CB&I

CB&I Constructors awarded Cimeco a $90 million contract for the Australia Pacific LNG project in Gladstone, Queensland. The scope included civil and concrete services associated with the installation of two LNG tanks for the project. Handley Surveys was awarded the contract to provide surveying services to the project.

GORGON LNG

CB&I Kentz JV

Chevron Australia awarded CB&I Kentz Joint Venture (CKJV) a US$3.2 billion contract to perform structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) electrical, instrumentation and commissioning support for the single largest LNG project undertaken. Handley Surveys was awarded a massive contract to provide all surveying services to the project, a huge milestone for the company.

MACEDON LNG

Streicher-Clough JV

BHP Billiton undertook the US$1.5 billion Macedon wet gas pipeline and sales gas pipeline project in Onslow, awarding the $45 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Streicher-Clough JV. Handley Surveys was selected to provide surveying services to the project. The scope of work included horizontal directional drilling, construction of multiple pipelines and umbilical installation. Drawing upon a wealth of LNG experience, Handley Surveys ensured that the project was completed ahead of time and on budget.

PLUTO LNG

    CB&I

    Woodside awarded CB&I a contract to construct two full containment LNG tanks and three condensate tanks on the Pluto LNG project in Dampier, Western Australia. CB&I selected Handley Surveys to provide surveying services to the project based on their previous experience with large steel tank construction geometry.

    AGC

    AusGroup was awarded a $120 million contract as part of the Pluto LNG project to provide mechanical works associated with the installation of structural steel and process piping, installation of mechanical equipment, pre-assembled pipe racks, modules and structures. AGC awarded Handley Surveys the structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) surveying services package based on their extensive LNG experience.

    Monadelphous

    Monadelphous was awarded a $170 million package for the mechanical offsite utilities and AGRU areas. The package consisted of module installation, mechanical equipment installation, piping, structural steel erection and commissioning. Handley Surveys was awarded the contract to provide structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) surveying services to assist the project.

    Pluto

    Woodside / FWW

    The Woodside US$13.2 billion dollar Pluto project awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) to Foster Wheeler Worley-Parsons (FWW). Handley Surveys was selected to provide EPC support, auditing and dimensional control surveying services to both the fabrication yard in Laem Chabang, Thailand and the assembly site in Dampier, Western Australia over a four year period.

    NWS JV PHASE V LNG

    Woodside

    With a project value of US$3.4 billion the Phase V (5) expansion project is the first modularised LNG processing train to be built in fabrication yards in Batam, Indonesia and shipped as individual modules to the assembly site in Dampier, Western Australia. Handley Surveys was awarded the contract to provide audit and dimensional control (DC) services to the project over a three year period.

    NWS JV PHASE V LNG

    CB&I

    Woodside Energy awarded CB&I a mechanical erection package for the Phase V (5) LNG expansion project at the North West Shelf Venture onshore gas plant near Karratha, in Western Australia. CB&I selected Handley Surveys to perform the structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) surveying services contract based on their previous experience in both the LNG industry and the NWSJV site.

    Burrup Fertiliser

    CB&I

    SNC-Lavalin awarded CB&I the mechanical erection package for the construction of two 40,000t cryogenic, double-walled, double integrity tanks to be used for ammonia storage. CB&I were also tasked with the structural, mechanical and piping contract. Handley Surveys was selected to provide teams to both site operations.

    Burrup Fertiliser

    BGC

    BGC won the bulk earthworks, drill and blast, detailed civil works and export corridor works for the Burrup Fertiliser project. Handley Surveys was awarded the surveying services contract based on their outstanding performance on other remote LNG projects in the region and their Pilbara presence. The project was a catalyst for growth within Handley Surveys and the outcomes generated a project completion on time.

WOODSIDE/BGC

Woodside Petroleum Ltd awarded the $6 billion Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract to Foster Wheeler Worley (FWW) for the onshore LNG liquefaction train and associated storage, offloading and ancillary facilities. The dimensional control and auditing surveying services were awarded to Handley Surveys for both module fabrication yard in Laem Chabang, Thailand and assembly site in Dampier, Western Australia. Handley Surveys ensured full separation of project roles and personnel to alleviate any conflict of interest on the project.

NWS JV Phase IV LNG

CB&I

Representing an investment of more than $30 billion, the Woodside operated North West Shelf Joint Venture (NWSJV) facilities constitute Australia’s largest oil and gas resource development and currently account for more than one third of Australia’s oil and gas production. CB&I awarded Handley Surveys the Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) surveying services package for the assembly of the fourth LNG liquefaction train.
